On May 8, 2024, the Bydgoszcz Energy Forum was held as part of the DUET project, involving institutions responsible for supplying and managing energy in the city. The event was organized by the Energy Management Team of the City of Bydgoszcz and PGK SA. During the meeting, the project concerning the update of the heat, electricity, and gas supply plan was discussed.

The first part of the meeting focused on managing energy consumption in the city's activities. The forum was opened by the Mayor of Bydgoszcz, Rafał Bruski, who emphasized the value of discussion and experience exchange in creating the best plan. Tomasz Bońdos, the Coordinator of the Energy Management Team, added that in order to achieve climate neutrality, it is necessary to ensure clean energy and strengthen cooperation between institutions. Next, the Director of the Municipal Urban Planning Office discussed the directions of spatial development in the city and the limitations for energy investments. Romuald Meyer, Managing Director of PGK SA, then presented the project of the Assumptions for the Heat, Electricity, and Gas Supply Plan.
Next, the development plans of the city of Bydgoszcz were presented from the perspective of external energy suppliers and from the perspective of municipal units and consumers:
- Development of the electricity distribution network, Energa Operator SA
- RES in the production of district heating, PGE Energia Ciepła SA
- Development of the natural gas distribution network, Gaz-System
- Construction of high-voltage networks, PSE SA
- Construction of a biogas plant, Pro Natura ZTPOK
- Energy self-sufficiency, MWiK Bydgoszcz
- Electricity production in cogeneration, KPEC Bydgoszcz
- RES in future plans, Fordon Housing Cooperative
In the second part of the event, a debate was held among representatives of the city's utility providers to answer the question, "Will Bydgoszcz's needs for electricity, heat, and gas be fully met by 2035?" Additionally, a debate was held for representatives of non-governmental organizations and the local community on the role of residents in shaping the city's climate and energy policy.
A special attraction was the opportunity to see an electric bus provided by the company PILEA.
