Energy management systems are an important step towards more sustainable cities. They help cities reduce their carbon footprint, conserve natural resources and build more resilient communities. Implementing an energy management system in a city requires commitment from local authorities, energy companies and residents. However, the benefits of these systems are significant so it is worth investing time and resources in their implementation.
A system called the Energy Management Base has been implemented in Bydgoszcz. It focuses mainly on the robotisation of document management processes for electricity, heat, water and gas fuel, while also extracting data from these documents.
The changing reality in recent times is moving towards extensive digitalisation and this trend is becoming inevitable. In order to help employees and relieve them from repetitive, tedious tasks, the units of Bydgoszcz City Hall, i.e. the IT Department and the Energy Management Team, implemented robotisation of one of the processes previously carried out entirely by the Energy Management Team. Previously, the energy data processing process was so tedious and complicated that it was not possible to retrieve documents and build a database on an ongoing, manual basis.
